IPFW Empty Bowls Fundraiser

May 1, 11 - 2PM
First Presbyterian Church
300 West Wayne St

Empty Bowls is once again working to help feed the hungry in our community. The project, sponsored by the IPFW Department of Fine Arts, works to raise money for the IPFW Food Bank and the Student Ceramics Club. Individuals donate $20 and receive a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted bowl along with a complimentary soup lunch including a drink and dessert. Food for the event is being donated by Cosmos Restaurants and Panera Bread. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 1 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 West Wayne St., Fort Wayne from 11 – 2 p.m.

IPFW has partnered with Northrop High School and a youth group workshop with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to hand-craft 500 bowls for the event. Bowls were also made as part of a service learning assignment in the IPFW Advanced Ceramics class. Ceramic student Katherine Gaff, received a service learning grant from Purdue University Student Service Learning Grant Program to pay for the materials used to make the bowls, food for the event, and advertising.

“Last year we sold more than 200 bowls filled with soup and raised more than $3,000,” explained Seth Green, assistant professor of ceramics at IPFW. “This year we have 500 bowls available and hope even more people will join us for this fundraising effort.”

This year lunch guests also have the opportunity to view the IPFW Student Juried Exhibition curated by Seth Green in the First Presbyterian Church Gallery. The exhibition, located just outside of the theatre, showcases the work of IPFW students in the Department of Fine Arts featuring a variety of media. The exhibition will run from April 20 – June 3, 2018.

Collaboratorium: Album Cover Remix

May 16, 6 - 9 PM
Artlink Contemporary Gallery
300 E Main St

For the April Collaboratorium, we'll be getting in touch with our sense of touch. We'll be collaborating on clay sculptures that are created by hand--while blindfolded! Each artist will have a set amount of time to work on a piece before handing it off to another blindfolded artist. As always, all supplies will be provided. All you have to do is show up and play with us!

About Collaboratorium
Collaboratorium is a weekly artmaking session run by Italian Friend ArtRuckus that brings together artists, musicians, performers, and writers to create collaborative, improvised works in a wide range of mediums, including visual art, music, video, and performance art.
Collaboratorium sessions take place in a relaxed atmosphere that encourages participants to focus on the processes of collaboration, experimentation, and improvisation.
