Pulling from an interest in ancient societies and a frustration from finding trash in nature, she saw the evidence that will remain from our civilization's existence.

In this solo exhibition by Blake Sanders, he explores the dual mantras of Keep Up/Keep Out —the baser instincts of contemporary American life. The phrases speak to the societal expectations to aspire and consume—often beyond our means—while hoarding that acquired bounty and distrusting our neighbors.

This solo exhibition by Katherine Gibson will include a series of artworks created through a combination of painting, textile manipulation techniques, and collage that present spaces of safety and reprieve for young women from a world that commodifies girlhood at the expense of girls.

This solo exhibition by Mallory Donen challenges notions of labor, productivity, and the value of art in relation to craft and women’s work. Throughout her practice, Donen has explored the connection between the repetitive nature of women’s work and machines.
Cultivate, Grow and Nourish

This solo exhibition by Hannah Burnworth includes two and three-dimensional paper plants created to celebrate women and their roles in fostering growth. Burnworth explores the significance of the vessel and plant life in relationship to mothers and caregivers. She utilized her own handmade paper, repurposed artwork by her high school students, and artwork created by herchildren in developing this series.

Nocturne

Nocturne is an accompanying group exhibition featuring the work of 50 artists juried by professional artist and educator, John Hrehov. All artworks in this exhibition are influenced by the night, whether literally or conceptually. "Seeing that the subject is one to inspire mystery, melancholy, fear, isolation, quiet, solitude.. it’s inherently rich for an emotional response. The works on display touched me in their poetry of the subject. I hope the exhibition’s viewers will feel the same way I did when selecting the results."
In A Midnight World

This solo exhibition of oil paintings by John Hrehov explores the Nocturne, a theme which has been depicted in a variety of ways throughout art history by many great artists. Casper David Friedrich, Ralph Blakelock, and Giorgio de Chirico are just a few of the artists that inspired Hrehov to create this series. His work captures the mystery, melancholy, and magic of the world around him.

This solo exhibition by Debra Clem includes a series of large-scale portraits on aluminum. Clem’s paintings serve as personal metaphors of emotional growth and transformation, and express the complex relationships we have with individuals, communities and the physical environments that surround us.
OVER/UNDER

In this group exhibition by Gabe Duggan, Robin Haller, Kate Nartker and Janie Woodbridge, the four artists used hand controlled digital jacquard loom technology to create weavings, installations, and projected video that invite the viewer to examine material artifacts and grapple with the intersections and contradictions of physical and virtual landscapes.

In this solo exhibition of ceramic sculptures by George Morrison of Fort Wayne, IN he explores the characteristics and limitations of clay: its ability to be thrown on the wheel, molded, cast, extruded, sliced and rolled into slabs.

Painting at Night

In collaboration with Artist/Mother Podcast, Artlink was pleased to host Painting at Night, a group exhibition that was juried by Melanie Cooper Pennington and open internationally to artists who are mothers or lifelong caregivers.
Walking Among Angels
September 9 - October 3, 2021
In this life-size print installation by Eliana Saari of Gahanna, OH, she aims to re-create that feeling of being surrounded by everyday people, unaware of their purpose. She has made multiples of her block prints to create an immersive experience. The life-size images of people walking or just standing, are suspended to allow them to move subtly and change with the play of light and shadow on their surfaces. This will allow the viewer to participate and to “lose” themselves in the crowd and at the same time, experience moments of beauty exemplified not only by the imagery itself, but by the silk, its movement and the play of light and shadow on it.
Creative Impulses

This solo exhibition by John Wade III of Fort Wayne, IN features a series of paintings that each take on a life of their own. Wade believes that the methods of creative expression are as individual as the artist who uses them. Once he gets an image or theme in mind, he tends to express it (with some exceptions) in a series of works, until the image no longer speaks to him.
Moments: The Plein Air Movement

In partnership with the Fort Wayne Artists Guild, Artlink was proud to host Moments: The Plein Air Movement. Translating to “in the open air” in French, plein air painting sets out to convey the atmosphere and natural experience of a subject. In adherence to this approach, artists seek to capture the true essence of a given landscape, emphasizing color, light, and movement. This group exhibition will featured Steve Puttrich of Arlington Heights, IL, Jill Stefani Wagner of Saline, MI, and Ray Hassard of Cincinnati, OH, three nationally acclaimed plein air artists.
Drainage
July 29 - August 29, 2021
This exhibition by Dannon Schroeder of Fort Wayne, IN featured wood sculptures, all handmade and carved exclusively with recycled and reclaimed wood varieties collected throughout the country. The wood species were individually chosen for their naturalistic visual qualities and aesthetic appearances. Some fell from unhealthy trees, others pulled out of the ground. They all had a rich history of existence. Optical illusions of man-made materials were created via sculptural and paint manipulations that presented the carved wood to appear as synthetic and/or metallic materials.
43rd Annual Members’ Showcase

This annual exhibition celebrates the individual artists that make Artlink possible through their continued membership and support. Our 43rd Members’ Showcase featured 114 talented local artists working across a wide variety of art media.
Hunger
Assembled from woven grocery bags and staples, this exhibition by Rita Grendze features a large-scale immersive installation titled Belly. Grendze's work developed throughout the pandemic invites conversations about food, the softening of middle-aged bodies and food insecurity in our community.
Common Ground
This collection of small-scale charcoal drawings by Lauren Scavo-fulk examines the connection between human consciousness and the surrounding environment by presenting the viewer with scenes of heightened atmosphere that allow for experiential moments of reflection and attention to both physical and nonphysical elements of the natural world.
Impressions of the Monumental
This solo exhibition by Craig Fisher incorporated traditional techniques of painting and printmaking to explore the idea of the monument as a collective reminder of the past.
Recent Works: Painting with Fabric
This solo exhibition by Joel Fremion explored the landscape, still life, and architecture of areas near and far using his signature fabric collage technique of layering fabric and leather that are then further enhanced by painted detail.

VOICES
Feb 18 - Mar 21, 2021
This exhibition of photographs by DJ E-Clyps documented the George Floyd and Black Lives Matter protests during the summer of 2020 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. DJ E-Clyps captured intimate portraits of the individual participants, ensuring that the many voices of those present would not be forgotten or lost in the destructive narrative often associated with the act of protest.
VOICES: JURIED EXHIBITION
This online exhibition was juried by DJ E-Clyps & Lyndy Bazile and open internationally to BIPOC artists whose focuses include personal perspectives on our current social crisis and/or empowerment of black voices. Exhibited artists included: Sierah Barnhart, Keisha-Gaye Anderson, Joseph Ijoyemi, Linda Tien, Andrea Bottin and Labdhi Shah.

Window to the Soul
Window to the Soul was curated by Saw Kennedy and featured nineteen artists from the country of Myanmar. Each artist explored their rich culture through depictions of the indigenous peoples, landscapes, architecture, and traditional practices.
Sunken Beauty
Mixed media artist, Shelby Alexander, expands contemporary concepts of drawing and painting by combining figurative works on paper with recycled textile backgrounds, referencing the pollution of the clothing industry. Her work highlights the tension between the modern experience of beauty, consumption, and industrialization—and the long-term environmental impact of the clothing we wear.
The Vessel: Variations of Form and Surface
The Vessel: Variations of Form and Surface, curated by Seth Green, features five contemporary ceramic artists: Shane Christensen, Seth Green, Stephen Heywood, Brian Jensen, and Michael T. Schmidt. Each potter communicates their ideas through the exploration of form and surface in a series of vessels.
